Hi, my name is Jay and I'm the webmaster. This band started in a really awesome way. I was roaming around after service at my church looking for someone to talk to, like usual. I spotted someone named Chris Cisari who used to play in a Christian metal band (Chalice) in the late 80s/early 90s. He introduced me to a guy named Steve Kurian. I've never seen him before at this point, and he asks me what kind of music I liked. At first I named off bands like Petra, White Heart, PfR, ...and then when I said Stryper and Deliverance, his eyes lighted up. We began talking about bands, music, metal, and everything in between. We became friends that same day. In fact, I even went and got my guitar and went to his house, where he had a nice drum set with double bass set up. We jammed for a bit and he really liked my riffs. The day was December 28, 2003. The founding members of Cleansed by Fire were now intact. We decided we wanted to start a band as soon as possible. The only problem is, Chris Oliveira and Denis Hirschhorn were the only guys I knew from church that liked metal. A few weeks later, we tried out Chris. He has a good death metal voice, but it's not really the style we wanted to do. We want to do more of the melodic metal stuff, but there will be hints of all styles of metal in our music. Blast beats and death/thrash metal riffs will be there from time to time, but it's not our main focus. Anyways, I know Denis is into some of the metal we like, and he may be a session player at some point, but as for now, he's probably not going to on tour with us. Things may change though, ya never know. So, Steve put MY NUMBER is Sound Check Magazine (I have no problem with it, but my dad wasn't too keen on the idea!). And as soon as it came out, we got a call from Mike Majorowksi. We tried him out and he was perfect for our band. We haven't received one call since, so we are thinking this definitely was of God. Also, we got a bass player named Mike Hughes, who has been a good friend of Steve for many years.

Mission statement

Cleansed by Fire are all born again Christians and we are not ashamed of the name of Jesus Christ. We want to do this for God, and only God. Our lyrics will be Christ-like and our music uplifting. I know we will hear lots of haters and such for us taking a stand and speaking the truth, but we believe that it has to be done. No one else is doing it. We can't hold back the good news of Jesus Christ. We are sick and tired of seeing people sitting in depression, sadness, self-hatred, and confusion. We need to set the record straight that this is not how they should live their lives. This is our mission.

Anyways, on to the timeline.

December 28, 2003 - Jay meets Steve. They jam for the first time.

January 17, 2004 - Chris and Denis jam with us at Denis' house. Chris tries out for vocalist, but we decide he's not for our band.

February 8, 2004 - The webpage begins.

February 11, 2004 - Mike is hired to play guitar for the band.

February 14, 2004 - Steve's birthday, and we also decide to name the band Cleansed by Fire.

February 22, 2004 - The music for 3 songs for our set have been completed: The Awakening, Satan's Demise, and No Time (Deliverance cover).
